Dental Bonding For Improved Asthetics

Dental bonding is a popular treatment option for patients who want to make cosmetic improvements to their teeth, because it is an inexpensive way to correct gaps, chips, and cracks that have developed, or to change the color, shape, and appearance of their teeth. Dental bonding corrects these issues using a composite resin that is shaded to match the natural color of your teeth. Dental bonding is a relatively painless and fairly inexpensive procedure that can typically be performed in one visit and will result in an instant improvement to the aesthetic appearance of your smile.

To ensure that you have a clear understanding of what is involved in the dental bonding procedure and determine if dental bonding is right for you, please refer to the information provided below. If you have additional questions or would like to schedule an appointment, contact us today at 281-359-9100, or visit our office at 1542 Green Oak Pl, Kingwood, TX 77339.

Benefits of Dental Bonding

Having dental bonding performed comes with a variety of benefits, including the following:

  • Instantly improved aesthetic appearance: Dental bonding will improve the aesthetic appearance of your smile and teeth immediately, which will bring a great deal of relief for patients who have felt self- conscious about their smile due to teeth that are chipped or cracked.
  • Increased strength: By restoring the original shape of your chipped or cracked tooth, you will regain the tooth’s original strength and functionality. This will also reduce the likelihood of additional oral health issues from developing, such as the collection of bacteria and/or developing an infection, which can cause additional damage and decay.
  • Fast solution: Because the procedure can typically be performed in just one visit to the dentist, dental bonding provides improved same day results, which means it will no longer be necessary to walk around with cracked or chipped teeth.
  • Long lasting aesthetics: Although dental bonding is not a permanent solution, it does provide long lasting results especially when properly cared for. If you continue to follow good oral hygiene self-care practices (brushing and flossing twice daily, minimum), and schedule regular dental exams and deep cleanings, your dental bonding should last a long time. If your dental bonding does begin to discolor, a replacement may be necessary, although it can typically be touched up during your regular exams if the discoloration is not too significant. If the discoloration is due to significant decay or severely  damaged teeth, it may be necessary to pursue other treatment options.

Dental Bonding Process

Dental bonding is a simple and relatively painless procedure that can be completed in one visit. The dental bonding process begins with cleaning and drying the tooth in need of repair. Next, a composite resin color is selected that most closely matches your natural teeth. Once this is determined, the surface of the tooth is roughened and a liquid is applied, which will adhere the bonding agent to the tooth. Next, a composite resin is applied, which is shaped and molded to the tooth, and then hardened, using an ultraviolet light. Once the resin is hardened, your dentist will contour and shape the bonding and then check to ensure your bite is correct. Once they are satisfied that your bite is optimal, the procedure will be complete.

Aftercare Following Dental Bonding

Following the dental bonding procedure, it will not be necessary to follow any modified self-care, although it is a good idea to avoid or limit eating candy or hard foods to prevent chipping and avoid tobacco, tea, or coffee for at least two days to prevent staining. To continue enjoying good oral health and reduce the need for this type of procedure in the future, it is important to consistently follow good oral hygiene practices. In addition to brushing and flossing twice daily (at a minimum), be mindful of the types of food and beverages you consume, and avoid foods or substances that can negatively impact your oral health (chewing tobacco, staining foods, sugary drinks). It is equally important to schedule regular dental cleanings every six months, or more frequently, depending upon your unique oral health needs. If you follow these general guidelines, you
will enjoy a healthy smile for many years to come!

Bonding Cost & Insurance Coverage

The cost of dental bonding will depend upon how many teeth are being treated and what insurance coverage from your dental plan can be applied. It is important to be aware that you are fully responsible for all fees of treatment, and payment is due at the time of service, regardless of your insurance coverage. Monthly payment plans can be arranged, but this will need to be established prior to the procedure being performed. Although we may not have a contractual arrangement with your provider, our staff is happy to assist with processing your insurance claim to ensure that you maximize your benefits and receive the high-quality care you need and deserve. For your convenience, we accept Mastercard, Visa and Discover.
