Porcelain Veneers For Confident Smiles
If you have concerns about the size, spacing, and/or shade of your teeth, or if you have issues with crowding or teeth that are broken or chipped, you may be an ideal candidate for porcelain veneers. The porcelain veneers procedure involves the placement of slender porcelain pieces on top of existing teeth to improve their physical appearance and address functional issues. Porcelain veneers are a popular alternative to traditional dental crowns.

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers
Although there are certain drawbacks to porcelain veneers compared to other restoration options, such as the cost being higher than other procedures, the potential for developing increased tooth sensitivity, and the fact that the procedure is irreversible, the following benefits typically outweigh these drawbacks for people who decide to have porcelain veneers placed:
- Whitens Your Smile: One of the primary benefits of porcelain veneers is that they are stain-resistant, which is especially helpful for people who enjoy drinking coffee or eating foods that are heavily pigmented. This is also means that you will not need to have your veneers whitened in the future.
- Corrects Cosmetic Issues: Placing veneers to the front surfaces of teeth that are gapped or crooked can make a significant positive cosmetic impact, resulting in teeth no longer appearing to be gapped or crooked.
- Replaces Damaged Enamel: Enamel can begin to wear away due to a variety of factors, such as aggressive brushing, bruxism, or the natural effects of aging. Porcelain veneers are an effective and aesthetically pleasing approach for replacing this lost enamel.
The Porcelain Veneers Process
Prior to having porcelain veneers placed, you will need to schedule a consultation with one of our dentists to discuss your specific treatment goals and/or issues you want to correct. If it is determined that porcelain veneers are the best treatment option for you, we will select the type of veneer and select a color shade that most closely resembles your natural teeth. Next, small amounts of enamel will be removed to make room for the porcelain veneer to be placed. Although this process is typically painless, anesthesia is available if necessary.
Once the area has been prepared, an impression will be made to serve as a model for the porcelain veneers, using either a digital scan or mold of the tooth, which the lab will use to create your customized porcelain veneers. When your veneers are ready to be placed, a follow up appointment will be scheduled. After evaluating the veneers and ensuring they are the optimal shape and color, we will prepare the veneer for placement by first cleaning, polishing, and etching your teeth. Finally, the veneer is adhered using a bonding cement. Once this is complete, your bite will be checked again and any final adjustments will be made, after which your porcelain veneer procedure will be complete.
Porcelain Veneer Aftercare
Following the placement of your porcelain veneers, it will not be necessary to follow any modified self-care, although it is common for patients to experience some tooth sensitivity when eating or drinking food or beverages that are cold or hot, but this will typically go away after a few weeks. To continue enjoying good oral health and reduce the need for this type of procedure in the future, it is important to consistently follow good oral hygiene practices. In addition to brushing and flossing twice daily (at a minimum), be mindful of the types of food and beverages you consume, and avoid foods or substances that can negatively impact your oral health (chewing tobacco, staining foods, sugary drinks). It is equally important to schedule regular dental cleanings every six months, or more frequently, depending upon your unique oral health needs. If you follow these general guidelines, you will enjoy a healthy smile for many years to come!
Veneer Cost & Insurance Coverage
The cost of having porcelain veneers placed will depend upon how many teeth are being treated, whether sedation is used, and what insurance coverage from your dental plan can be applied. It is important to be aware that you are fully responsible for all fees of treatment, and payment is due at the time of service, regardless of your insurance coverage. Monthly payment plans can be arranged, but this will need to be established prior to the procedure being performed. Although we will not have a contractual arrangement with your provider, our staff is happy to assist with processing your insurance claim to ensure that you maximize your benefits and receive the high-quality care you need and deserve. For your convenience, we accept Mastercard, Visa and Discover.
